“The Archive of Historical and Practical Information Relating to Russia ” (12 books in 13 volumes, St. Petersburg, 1858–1869) is a multi-volume archaeographic publication, the editor and compiler of which was Nikolai Vasilievich Kalachov , legal historian and founder of archival affairs in Russia. It served as a continuation of the four-volume published by Kalachov in Moscow in 1850-1861 - “Archive of historical and legal information” [1] ). The change of name showed that the publisher had the goal of historical development of modern social issues to elucidate the national principles and forms of social life [2] . Volumes contained unique public law and private law documents. As an appendix to the “Archive of Historical and Practical Information”, Kalachov began in 1860 the publication of the journal “ Legal Herald ”, which subsequently continued to be published independently (St. Petersburg, 1860-1864).
