Basic Information
As a separate clinical form of the endogenous process, hypochondriac schizophrenia was first identified by M. Bornstein in 1928 [1] [2] . Bornstein pointed out that she was characterized by a sudden debut, a favorable course and completion of complete remission without a pronounced schizophrenic defect [2] . Hypochondriacal schizophrenia as a separate form was distinguished by S. Yu. Barzak, S. I. Konstorum and E. G. Okuneva. The manuals on psychiatry ( V. A. Gilyarovsky , M. O. Gurevich ) described the "hypochondriacal form of schizophrenia." By all the above authors, it was defined as a form of schizophrenia with a flaccid benign course , manifested almost exclusively by senestopathic hypochondriacal clinical pictures.
Modern classification
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) does not include the term “hypochondriacal schizophrenia”. In the International Classification of Diseases of the 10th revision (ICD-10), adapted for use in the Russian Federation, hypochondriac schizophrenia is included in section F20.8 (another type of schizophrenia), its code is F20.8xx1 [3] . In the international version of ICD-10 (a new version of ICD-10 was introduced by the World Health Organization in 2016), this concept is absent [4] .
