Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin (Kamenskaya)

The first church of the village of Kamenskaya, when it was on the left bank of the Seversky Donets , was the wooden church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, currently the village of Old Village is located here. ^[2] The temple was built in 1740, and in 1745 it burned down during a fire. The second church building, also made of wood, was laid on March 22, 1747, and the following year the church was built and consecrated. ^[3] In 1787, a stone Intercession church was laid in its place with the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. It was consecrated on July 18, 1792. The old wooden church in 1795 was bought by Colonel Ivan Petrovich Skasyrsky and transported to the Skasyrskaya settlement (now the village of Skosyrskaya ). ^[3]

In 1817, when the village of Kamenskaya was moved to the right bank (where the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky is now located), the Pokrovskaya church, like many other old buildings, was dismantled, and building material was used to create the new Holy Pokrovsky church with aisles in the honor of the Ascension of the Lord and in the name of Nicholas the Wonderworker, whose consecration took place in 1829.

The temple was in the area of ​​the current school number 2. It was demolished in 1934. In 2003, a new brick church was also built in the city (in Shchadenko square), also called the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos .
