Rustambekov, Rustam bey

Rustam-bek Gul Muhammed-bek oglu Rustambekov ( azerb. Rüstəm bəy Rüstəmbəyov ; born 1807 - d. 1883 ) - captain of the Russian army, Azerbaijani military and public figure.

Biography

Rustam-bek Gul Muhammed-bek oglu was born in Shusha in 1807 . He received an excellent education in a madrasah . He was one of the close associates of Mehti Kuli Khan of Karabakh . After the escape of the khan, he voluntarily transferred to Russian citizenship.

In 1826 he escaped to Mehti Kuli Khan, but was soon captured. Was pardoned by Ermolov [1] . Until the end of his life, R. Rustambekov honestly and valiantly served as the pillar of the Russian administration in Karabakh and its okrug.

He took part in the campaign of 1827 against Persia . He distinguished himself in the battles of Meshkin. For the differences in the last campaign on January 11, 1829 he was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 3rd degree with a bow.

On July 27, 1833, the Sultan ( hundreds commander) Rustam-bek Rustambekov was promoted directly to lieutenants and was awarded a golden saber with the inscription "For courage" [2] [3]

Along with the headquarters captain Kutkashensky Ismail-bek , Lieutenant Bakikhanov Jafar Kuli Aga (the younger brother of Abbaskuli-ag Bakikhanov ), Lieutenant Rustam-bek Rustambekov was on a mission to Warsaw in November 1834 . September 5, 1854 promoted to headquarters captains (seniority in the rank since July 24, 1854).

In September 1856 he was promoted to captain.

Rustam bey Rustambekov died in 1883 .

He had sons Abdullah-bek, Suleiman-bek and daughter Nabat khanum.
