Biography

Born on April 8, 1942 in Ivanovka . His family moved to Odessa after the end of World War II , and already in the city in 1956 he began to play football in the team of the factory named after F. Dzerzhinsky under the guidance of the ex-mentor of Pishchevik Akim Evgenievich Fomin .

In 1959, as part of the youth team of the Ukrainian SSR, he became the champion of the USSR at his age.

At the end of 1960, he was invited to Chernomorets as a group of partners in the factory team after the control game between the sailors and Dzerzhinets, who sensationally beat the masters with a score of 2: 1. In 1961 he made his debut as part of the team, and together with the team became the champion of the Ukrainian SSR .

In 1963, entered the list of the best football players of the Ukrainian SSR under number 3.

In 1964, together with the team, he entered the first class β€œA” group .

After the completion of his playing career, he coached the team of the Belyaevsky district in the championship of Odessa region .

Higher education. In 1970 he graduated from Odessa Pedagogical Institute named after Ushinsky . He headed the department of physical education of Odessa National University named after Mechnikov . He worked as head of the department of physical education of Odessa University named after Mechnikov. Under the leadership of Popichko, the university team became the champion of the USSR among students.

In 2001, he was included in the list of the best football players of Odessa of the XX century .

He died on June 1, 2006 in Odessa [1] .

Since 2010, a tournament has been held in memory of Popichko, in which teams of higher educational institutions participate [2] .

Achievements
