Biography

He grew up in a family with rich sporting traditions. So, Sven's great-grandmother stood at the origins of the VfL Wolfsburg sports society, Hans-Jürgen's grandfather played handball at a high level in the 1950s, and his father Jens Knippals became the bronze medalist at the 1983 European Championship in the long jump [1] .

He started practicing athletics at the age of nine, but soon left her for the sake of football. At the age of 16, on the advice of the coach, he came back, first trying his strength in the long jump, and then switching to a sprint. For a long time did not show high results even at the level of Germany, because of which he was forced to concentrate on receiving education and further work. In 2013, he graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in British Bournemouth and from September became a practicing specialist in this area of medicine [2] .

By that time Knipphals was already the winner of the national championship and a member of the national team. As a reserve, he went to the 2011 World Cup and the London Olympics . He participated in the semifinals at the European Championships in the 200-meter race [3] .

In 2013, he took the fourth place in the 4 × 100 meter relay at the world championship . A year later, together with his teammates, he took in this form the silver medal of the European Championship .

In June 2015, at a competition in Regensburg, he set a personal record in the run for 100 meters - 10.13. In the relay at the World Championships , as well as two years earlier, he became the fourth.

Won the bronze medal at the European Championship 2016 in the 4 × 100 meter relay. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the German quartet in this discipline (with Knippals in the line-up) stopped a step away from getting into the final (9th place in the races).
