History
On August 1, 1968, in the city of Mogocha, Chita Region, on the basis of the directive of the General Staff of the Army of June 4, 1968 and the headquarters of the Trans-Baikal Military District of June 21, 1968, the 11th separate air assault brigade was formed (military unit 21460).
The base of the brigade was the 1st Motorized Rifle Battalion of the 113th Guards Motorized Rifle Novogeorgievsky Red Banner Regiment of the 38th Guards Motorized Rifle Division, renamed the 617th Separate Airborne Battalion. The squadron of Mi-8 helicopters (696th separate helicopter regiment), 656th separate communications company, 49th separate company of aerodrome-technical support, which arrived from the Moscow Military District (from Torzhok airfield), became the basis of the 211st aviation group (in h 22644).
On September 1, 1977, the 211st aviation group was reorganized into the 307th combat helicopter regiment (military unit 36693) on the Mi-8 and Mi-24, and the 329th transport and combat helicopter regiment (military unit 36656), 6 and Mi-8; two OBATOs were formed, the communications division and the RTO were transformed into two separate communications companies and the RTO.
From 1981 to 1987, squadrons of two helicopter regiments took part in hostilities in Afghanistan. In early 1988, the 307th and 329th helicopter regiments were withdrawn from the brigade.
On the basis of the Directive of the Minister of Defense of the USSR dated December 6, 1989 No. 314/3/001592, the 11th Special Operations Division was transferred to the Airborne Troops. In the same year, the 307th helicopter regiment was disbanded. In 1992, the team changed its location and was transferred to the village. Sosnovy Bor (Ulan-Ude).
In the 329th AFP for 1990, there were 20 Mi-6 helicopters and 40 Mi-8 helicopters. The 329th Helicopter Regiment was disbanded in 1998.
Currently, the Mogoch airfield is abandoned, it is possible to use the airfield as a landing site with selection. On the southern outskirts of the airfield is the company RTV from military unit 75313.
Geography and climate
It is located in the foothills of the Amazar Range , at the confluence of the Mogocha River and the Amazar River (a tributary of the Amur River), 709 km northeast of Chita.
The climate is sharply continental with monsoon features - large both daily and annual temperature drops. Very cold and practically snowless winters give way to not very hot, but very rainy summers. Almost all of the precipitation here during the year falls in the summer months, with daytime air temperatures in the range + 21-25 ° degrees, while at night it is only + 6-10 °. In December (the coldest month), the average daytime temperature is -21 ° C, the average nighttime temperature is 34 ° C, in some years it is recorded a maximum of -53 degrees.
Interesting that
There was an opinion in the military environment that the garrison in the USSR was worse than in Mogoch — no, which, of course, had good reason (folklore: “God invented Sochi, but hell Mogochi.” “Who lived in the Mogochinsky barracks, Buchenwald is not afraid of that " ).
