Geography
The village of Tamariani was located in the southern part of the Elbrus region , on the right bank of the Baksan River. It was located 40 km north of the regional center - Mestia (along the mountain pass through Adylsu ) and 500 km northwest of the city of Tbilisi .
It bordered on the lands of the settlements: Bukhaidze in the north, Ganakhleb in the west and the village of Elbrus in the south-west.
The village was located on a narrow elevated terrace at the foot of the ridge, on the right bank of the Baksan River. The average altitude in the territory of the abolished village is 1799 meters above sea level. The highest point of the area is Mount Andyrchi (3938 m).
The hydrographic network of the area is represented mainly by the Baksan River and its various small right tributaries.
Etymology
Tamariani is a literary monument of Georgian literature , compiled by the medieval Georgian poet Chakhrukhadze and in which he praised the famous Georgian queen - Tamara .
History
Before Tamariani, the village of Gubasanti was located at the confluence of the Guba-Santi-Suu River in Baksan [1] . This aul was founded long before the abolition and consisted of two quarters in which the representatives of the teips lived: the left bank - the Tilovs, the right bank - the Kurdanovs. In the 30s, a team of the collective farm “Elbrus.
In 1944, after the Balkars were deported to Central Asia, the upper reaches of the Baksan Gorge were transferred to the Upper Svaneti region of the Georgian SSR . In the same year, opposite the abolished Balkarian village, migrants from Georgia founded the village of Tamariani.
In 1957, after the rehabilitation of the Balkars and their return to their former places of residence, the village of Tamariani was abolished, and all residential buildings were destroyed or burned [2] . The upper reaches of the Baksan Gorge were returned to the reconstructed KBASSR .
Current status
Now the area on which the village of Tamariani was located is part of the rural settlement of Elbrus and is a microdistrict of the village of Neutrino , located on the right bank of the Baksan River.
