“Defectoscopy” is a journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences devoted to questions of the theory and practice of non-destructive testing of materials, products, and, in particular, welded joints .

General information
The magazine was founded in 1965 and is the oldest publication in Russia in this field and one of the most respected publications in the world of technical control. All writing flaw detectors of the CIS countries [1] were printed on its pages and the most interesting materials on non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics were published [2] .
The purpose of the journal “Defectoscopy” is to increase the technogenic and environmental safety by improving and expanding the application of methods and means of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics.
The journal is included in the HAC List [3] and the RSCI system [4] .
The magazine publishes articles by both Russian and foreign authors. The English version is published with the name Russian Journal of Nondestructive Testing and is indexed in Web of Science , Scopus and others. The impact factor for 2016 was 0.492 [5] .
Magazine Themes
The main topic of publications is the results of scientific achievements and research in the field of physical fundamentals of control and diagnostics of materials, as well as new methods, tools and experience in the application of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics of products and objects both in the production environment and during the operation of products and objects.
Information on new physical and technical means of environmental control is also published.
