Biography
Born in 1931 into a peasant family in the village of Semaki, Khmelnytsky region . From 1951 to 1954 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1956, on a Komsomol trip, together with a group of graduates of the Pryluky school of rural mechanization, he arrived in Kazakhstan to develop virgin lands. Since 1956 he worked as a tractor driver in the Krasnoarmeysk MTS, the state farm "Krasnaya Zarya", a tractor driver in the Batalinsky state farm in the Ordzhonikidze district. In 1959 he headed the tractor field crop brigade.
In 1970, the team of Andrei Savchuk collected an average of 19.5 centners of grain per hectare. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR “On conferring the title of Hero of Socialist Labor to the Leaders of Agriculture of the Kazakh SSR” of April 8, 1971, he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order for outstanding achievements in the development of agricultural production and the implementation of the five-year plan for the sale of agricultural and livestock products to the state Lenin and the Gold Medal " Hammer and Sickle ." Awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1979)
