The film tells the life story of the director, Vitaly Mansky, and his family, living in different parts of Ukraine: Lviv, Odessa, in the Donbass and in the Crimea. Another storyline of the film highlights the deep roots of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Movie Release
The world premiere of the film “Relatives” under the international name “Close Relations” took place on July 5, 2016 at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival , where he fought for the award of a documentary competition program [2] . On July 20 of the same year, the Ukrainian premiere took place: the film was shown at the Odessa International Film Festival in the section "Special Screenings" [3] [4] .
On September 14, 2016, the film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival , where it competed for the People's Choice Documentary Award of the TIFF DOCS documentary program [5] [6] . On October 14 of the same year, “Native” opened the Riga International Film Festival [7] [8] .
On the 20th of January 2017, “Relatives” were shown at the Ukrainian Film Festival in Brussels [9] . On January 27, the premiere of the film was held in the Kiev Zhovten cinema, and the next day a round table was held there with the participation of the director himself [10] . The film was released in Ukraine on February 2, 2017 [11] . The Swedish premiere of the painting took place at the Gothenburg Film Festival, which took place from January 27 to February 6, 2017 [12] [13] .
