Story
Andre Stander is a South African police officer, a newly-married couple with a reputation as the most talented young captain. He and other officers are sent to Tembiza to disperse one of the revolts of the Rebellion in Soweto . In the chaos that has begun, Stander accidentally kills a young unarmed demonstrator, which deeply affects him and makes him disappointed in the apartheid system. Once at lunchtime, Andre spontaneously robs a bank, which gives him real pleasure and, after which, he decides to take the path of robberies, one of which he even investigates. The team leader for the capture of the robber is the partner of Stander, Cor van Deventer. In the end, he manages to expose Andre and catch him at the crime scene. Stander is dismissed and sentenced to 32 years in prison.
While in prison, Stander meets Lee McCall and Allan Hale. The trio makes grandiose plans for what they will do when they escape from prison. After a year or so, Stander and McCall, while playing rugby , create the appearance of serious injuries, after which they are taken to the infirmary, from where they make an escape, disarming the guards. Soon after the escape, they help Hale escape, come up with new fictitious names, rob several banks, buy an expensive mansion and steal the yellow Porsche 911 Targa .
The longer the robberies lasted, the higher the risk of catching the so-called "Stander Gang". So, when trying to rob a gun shop, McCall wounded a woman, later he scattered money from a bag at the bank exit, and then groundlessly fired at another bank, which led to a police chase with a shootout. Having decided that it would be better to lay low, Stander plans to rob the currency exchange office at the airport and further departure from South Africa. A few hours before the robbery, he returns to Tembiz to repent before the father of the demonstrator he killed, learning the truth, the man beats Andre with his cane. After Stander does not appear at the time of the planned robbery, McCall decides that he “threw them” and completed the case alone, but then they see on the news that a large number of police officers were waiting for them at the airport. To which Hale says: "Even when he is not right, he is right!".
In 1984, the gang began planning an escape strategy: Stander was planning to leave for the United States in Fort Lauderdale , Florida and buy a yacht there, Hale wants to go to Greece , and McCall's plans break off when a police squad surrounds their mansion. At this moment, Stander and Hale pass by and observe this situation from the side, Allan tells Andre the story of his relationship with a black woman, she became pregnant (not from Hale) and they lived together, when the police saw this, they beat her, and she had a miscarriage has occurred. Hale thanks Stander for everything he did to help him and McCall take revenge on the system. Meanwhile, in a safe house, McCall is trying to escape, but realizing that there is no way out, he starts firing at the police with two pistols, Andre and Allan pass by the house just at the time when the police kill Lee. When they leave the scene, Stander and van Deventer meet their eyes. After the chase, the Porsche is badly damaged, and criminals steal another car. Stander goes to the airport where he is stopped by the police, to which he shows the passport of a man similar to him, who has been repeatedly confused with Andre, which has been shown on television more than once. Van Deventer rushes to the airport, but stops when he finds out that it was a false alarm.
Arriving at Fort Lauderdale, Stander cannot remain inactive for a long time, in the end, he provokes a fight and in a state of aggression passes a red traffic light in front of the police. After a short chase, Stander gets out of the car and first begins to execute the orders of the officer, but then disarms one of the police officers, to which the other fires several shots at him.
