Pristin ( cor. 프리스틴 , Japanese プ リ ス テ ィ ン 、 ; styled as PRISTIN , formerly known as Pledis Girlz ) is a South Korean girl group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2016. The team consisted of 10 participants: Nayeon (she is the leader), Roa, Yuhi, Unu, Rena, Kölkön , Yehany, Sonyon, Siyon and Kayla [1] . May 24, 2019 the group was disbanded. [2]

In 2016, almost all members of the group appeared in the show “Preparation 101” ( English Produce 101 ) and competed for a chance to make their debut as part of a temporary women's group . Two of them succeeded - Nayeon and Kölkön [3] . In January 2017, after the disbandment of the IOI, the girls returned to the agency, and Pristin debuted on March 21 with the Hi! Pristin . Like their older colleagues, Seventeen , they were known for writing and creating music themselves [4] .

Career
2016: Preparing for the debut
On March 23, 2016, Pledis Entertainment announced the name of their debut female group, Pledis Girlz . On the same day, Eunu, along with Vernon of Seventeen, released the single "Sickness" [5] . From May 14 to September 10, they held weekly concerts, which also featured Nayeon and Kölkön, who were advancing in the IOI at that time [6] . On June 27th, the digital single “We” was released, written by Roa, Eunu, Sonyon and Shyon; the composers are Eunu and Sonyon [7] . In July, Sonyon joined the Girl Spirit show [8] .
On January 6, 2017, the group held the last concert of “BYE & HI” as Pledis Girlz, and a new name was announced - PRISTIN ( prism stands for brightness and purity; elastin stands for impeccable strength) [9] .
2017: Debut with Hi! Pristin , Schxxl Out and Kyle's Break
On February 12, 2017, individual profiles were presented, among which new stage names of some participants were also presented; On March 2, the first teaser was published with the official debut date [10] [11] [12] . On March 7, the schedule for the upcoming promotion was published [13] . In the next two days, official teaser photos were presented; On March 13, they published the album cover and unveiled the title of their debut single, on March 14, presented a track list, and on March 15, audio teasers of new songs [14] . On March 17 and 19, fans saw teasers of the debut video clip [15] . Release of Hi! Pristin took place on March 21, and a video clip “Wee Woo” was also released [16] . On May 16, the group began a week-long promotion with the remix of “Black Widow” [17] .
On August 5, Pristin became aware of the return later that month. In the following days, photo-teasers of the participants, a track list of the album and audio-teasers [18] [19] were presented. On August 19, a teaser for the video for the main single “We Like” [20] was presented. The release of the mini-album Schxxl Out took place on August 23, the showcase was held on the same day [21] . Also became known as the name of the fandom - High [22] . On October 12, Pristin representatives announced that Kayla was taking a temporary break from health activities [23] .
2018–19: Subunit Pristin V debuts and disbands
On May 8, 2018, Pledis Entertainment announced the debut of the first official Pristin subunit - Pristin V, which included Nayeon, Roa, Eunu, Rena and Kölkön [24] .
On May 24, 2019, Pledis Entertainment confirmed the disbandment of the group after two years of existence. All participants, with the exception of Kölkön, Sonjön and Yehana, terminated their contracts with the agency [25] .
