Biography
Born June 26, 1962 in Sverdlovsk in a family of engineers.
Drafted for military service in the Soviet Army in 1981 . He served in a training regiment in the Chelyabinsk region, then was promoted to sergeant in April 1982 at the 181st motorized rifle regiment in Kabul (Afghanistan). He participated in the Panjshir military operation , as well as in hostilities in the cities of Charikar , Jalalabad , Bagram , Ghazni , Kabul and others. He was awarded the medal "For Military Merit" . Demobilized in November 1983 .
He graduated from the philological faculty of Leningrad State University .
In 1989, he entered the VGIK (Film and Screenwriting Department), where he graduated in 1994 .
In 1995 he entered the Sverdlovsk Pedagogical Institute , the department of Russian language and literature of the defectology department. There, under the guidance of Professor A. P. Chudinov, he worked on a dissertation entitled “Synaesthesia of odoric vocabulary in the works of I. A. Bunin,” which he defended in 1999 , having received a Ph.D. in philological sciences.
In 1999 he moved to Moscow, began to write scripts. By 2005, Zhitkov had written about 150 scripts [1] .
Since 2000, a member of the Moscow Union of Writers. The prose of Andrei Zhitkov has been translated into English and German.
