Car Hall of Fame

The Automobile Hall of Fame was created on October 18, 1939 in the city of New York under the name Automobile Old Timers ^[7] . The ideological goal of the project was to perpetuate the memory of the earliest pioneers in the automotive industry and to honor those who contributed to the development of any areas of the automotive industry and motorsport from around the world ^{[8] [9] [10]} . Over the course of three decades, the hall of fame experienced some difficulties and changed its name four times. The second name was Automotive Old Timers , adopted in 1957. The organization in charge of the project set a goal to achieve recognition of fame for the members of the hall. In 1971, the name was replaced by The Automotive Organization Team , and even later by the Automotive Hall of Fame , which gave the expected effect.

The organization moved to Washington, DC in 1960, housed in the building of the National Association of Automobile Dealers ( NADA ). In 1971, she moved to Midland , Michigan , where she received her first home at Northwood University. ^[11] In 1997, the Hall of Fame moved to his real home in Dearborn , Michigan, and was located next to the Henry Ford Museum, located within the MotorCities National Heritage Area (a branch of the US National Park Service dedicated to the preservation and development of Michigan's automotive and labor history) . Infrastructure objects with automotive history artifacts are located on an area of 25,000 square feet, including a small theater and a central closed area of ​​the building for social events, meetings and other exhibits ^[12] . Since then, the automotive hall of fame annually marks the most significant figures in the automotive industry on its list. As of 2015, the members of the Hall of Fame included 250 people, among whom were such significant figures as Benz , Bosch , Bugatti, Buick ^[13] , Chevrolet, Chrysler ^[14] , Gottlieb Daimler , Citroen, Cord, Dodge, Durea ^{[ 15] [16] [17] [18]} , Enzo Ferrari , Ford , Honda, Maybach , Olds, Peugeot , Porsche , Renault, Toyoda and others ^[19] .

In 2014, the Hall of Fame celebrated its 75th anniversary. In honor of this event, an anniversary private tour was organized with the participation of the president of the organization, William Chapin ^[20] .

During the annual awards, events are held in honor of those already included in the list of honorary members of the Hall of Fame ^[21] .

In 2016, it was announced that the Automobile Hall of Fame would move to downtown Detroit ^[22] .
