The son of Paul Ditzmann, a German cellist who settled in Denmark in early youth and played in pop and circus orchestras. He made his debut on stage at the age of five, in 1905-1914. performed as part of a family trio of cellos with his father and older brother Rudolf Ditzmann (1895-1949). In 1911 he toured in Sweden, in 1917 in the USA. In the years 1924-1926. worked as a music consultant for the Nordisk Film studio.
