Biography
Born into a petty bourgeois family. In 1562 he studied at the Cracow Academy (now Jagiellonian University ), the rector of which was twice elected subsequently. He studied at the Przemysl Cathedral School for several years.
In 1569 he became a master, then was ordained. From 1582 - Bachelor . Devoting himself to a spiritual rank, he took up theology. He was rector of the Krakow collegiate church of St. Florian.
At the same time, before his death, he taught theology at the Theological Department of the Cracow Academy (now Jagiellonian University ). In 1574 he was elected dean of the Faculty of Theology, in 1595–1596 and 1600–1601 - rector of the Cracow Academy.
His works contain rich material on the history of the religious movement in Poland in the 16th century. Of particular importance in this regard is the book Catechesis grammaticae latinae. Nunc demum diligentius recognitae et auctae ” (Latin grammar textbook, 1581), “ Generalis controversio de indulgentiis ” (1593), and a manuscript stored in the library of the University of Cracow: “ Epistolae, quae res varias inprimis Polonorum continent ” .
In his personal library, there were about 350 books that V. Widavsky bequeathed to the church in Vidava. Donated a significant amount of money to streamline street roads in his hometown.
