The Zhetybai field was discovered on July 5, 1961 , and in 1967, the first Mangystau oil was obtained at well No. 6 [1] .
Large-scale development began in 1969 . Deposits at a depth of 1.7 - 2.4 km. The initial flow rate of wells 2 - 130 tons / day. The density of oil is 0.85 - 0.86 g / cm³. Zhetyba oil is light and medium in density, 830–870 kg / m³, tarry 4.53–15.5%, high-paraffin 17.2–25%, low-sulfur 0.2–0.28%. The content of asphaltenes varies from 0.9 to 3.4% [1] .
The field is at a late stage of development. To increase oil production, various technologies are used, for example, hydraulic fracturing , various standard deviations and EQ , etc. Geological oil reserves amount to 345 million tons, residual oil reserves amount to 68 million tons.
Currently, the development of the field is carried out by the Kazakh oil company OJSC Mangistaumunaigas and its PU Zhetybaimunaigas . Oil production in 2010 amounted to 1.12 million tons.
Zhetybaymunaigas PU is divided into workshops that develop the field, there are producing workshops (TsNDG), workshops that pump water into the reservoir (TsPDD), research workshops (TsNIPR), a workshop that processes crude oil into commercial oil (TsPN) and others.
