History
The Ascension Church was built in 1872 in the village of Koysug of the Region of the Don Army (now within the boundaries of Bataisk), belonged to the Ekaterinoslav diocese. The temple was wooden, on a brick base. There are five chapters: one large and four small. The bell tower of the Ascension Church was completely brick. According to the documents of the Economic Department of the Holy Synod, as of 1910, the church property included a school, a guardhouse, a priest's house and utility rooms. [3]

In the 1930s, the Ascension Church was closed and destroyed. Only the first tier of the bell tower has survived to this day.
In 1989, during the perestroika years of the USSR , the Orthodox community of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord was registered, and in 1990, the restoration of the Ascension Church according to the project of Boris Vinnikov (in the style of Moscow-Yaroslavl architecture of the 17th century) began on the territory of the former church garden. On November 4, 1995, the first Divine Liturgy was served in the new church. [4] Over time, a bell tower was erected, utility rooms were built, a church courtyard was equipped. In 2006, new bells were purchased by the parish and a belfry was equipped. The construction was completely completed in 2006, and on September 5 of the same year, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord was consecrated by the ruling bishop.
