Biography
Born on November 27, 1981 in the city of St. John , New Brunswick , was with his parents the youngest child among five children.
He became interested in martial arts in early childhood, practiced karate as a teenager, underwent training under the guidance of his own father, who had the fifth dan and performed twice at world championships in Japan. The first victories came to him at the age of ten, he won regional and provincial karate championships, reached the national level competitions. In addition, he was the captain of the school football team and the president of the school chess club. Later, at an amateur level, he was fond of bodybuilding , when in 2004 he broke his leg and was forced to interrupt karate training. Subsequently, he received a black belt in tito-ryu , was the owner of the second dan [1] .
Professional career
In 2007, he decided to try himself in mixed martial arts and signed a contract with the Canadian fighting organization Maximum Fighting Championship . In his debut match, he met with former professional football player Adam Bradwood and lost to him by technical knockout in the first round. Despite this defeat, Ryan Jimmo continued to actively participate in various fighting tournaments and subsequently made an impressive series of seventeen consecutive victories, including in 2011 he won the MFC light heavyweight title, which he then defended twice in fights with Zach Cummings and Sokuju . Also won in the MFC over such famous fighters as Marvin Eastman , Emanuel Newton , Wilson Goveya .
He was a participant in the eighth season of the popular fighting reality show The Ultimate Fighter , where, however, he did not achieve much success, in the opening match by the decision of the majority of the judges he lost to the American Entwain Britt. He dropped out of the show, although he was honored with a flattering response by Dana White , who called this fight the best fight of the day [2] .
With sixteen victories and only one defeat on the track record, in 2012, Ryan Jimmo attracted the attention of the world's largest fighting organization, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and signed a long-term contract with it. Had to make his debut here in a duel with the Czech Carlos Vemola , but refused this fight due to an injury and made his debut a little later in a duel with Anthony Peroche , who knocked out in seven seconds, receiving a bonus for the best knockout of the evening (this is the second fastest knockout in the whole UFC history along with knockouts of Todd Duffy and Jung Chan Sung ). However, in the future his career in the UFC did not develop very well, victories began to alternate with frequent defeats. So, he was defeated by James The Huns, Ovins Saint-Pryot and Francimar Barroso , putting in an asset only victory over Igor Pokrayats and Sean O'Connell [3] [4] [5] .
Murder
On the morning of June 26, 2016, Jimmo got into a brawl with two people in a parking lot in Edmonton , one of whom got behind the wheel of a truck and intentionally shot down a Canadian fighter. He was taken to the hospital, but he soon died from his injuries [6] . The identities of the two suspects were identified by the police, they turned out to be 23-year-old Anthony Getshel and 21-year-old Jordan Wagner - both were found guilty under several articles of the criminal code [7] .
