Geographical position
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.1 km². Price is located in the Valley of the River Price River on the Colorado Plateau [1] .
Climate
According to the Köppen climate classification , the Price climate belongs to the humid continental climate (Dfb). The average temperature in a year is 9.3 ° C, the warmest month is July (average temperature is 23.3 ° C), the coldest is January (average temperature −4.0 ° C). The average rainfall per year is 256.5 mm [2] .
History
It is assumed that the city was named in honor of the bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints William Price of Goshen, who explored the territory in 1869. The first settlers of the Price River Valley were Caleb Baldwin Rhodes and Abraham Powell. They arrived in the valley in 1877 and built a hut on the territory of the future city. After the hunting season ended, Rhodes and Powell returned to Salem. New settlers appeared in 1879. At first, they lacked food supplies, agriculture was complicated by the lack of sufficient water. In 1888, the Price-Water company channel was completed, which resolved the irrigation issue [1] .
In 1883 a railway was built in the settlement, which made Price an industrial, commercial and cultural center. Nearby several coal mines were opened, in which many visiting workers who lived in Price worked. The city of Price was incorporated on July 14, 1892 [1] .
There are many shops and private enterprises, parks, schools and a hospital in Price. The city is home to Eastern Utah College and the Museum of Prehistoric Era of Eastern Utah College . The economy of Price is largely supported by the coal industry [1] .

According to the 2010 census, the population of the Price was 9,715 people (of which 48.6% of men and 51.4% of women), there were 3,227 households and 2,155 families in the city. On the territory of the city there were located 3,510 buildings with an average density of 267.9 buildings per square kilometer of land. The racial composition : white - 91.2%, African Americans - 0.6, Asians - 1.0%, Native Americans - 1.4% [3] .
According to the 2010 census, the population of the city was distributed as follows: 26.5% - residents under 18 years old, 6.0% - between 18 and 21 years old, 52.8% - from 21 to 65 years old and 13.7% - aged 65 and over. The average age of the population is 31.8 years. For every 100 women in the Price there were 94.5 men, while for 100 adult women there were already 93.9 men of comparable age [3] .
Of the 3227 households, 66.8% were families: 48.9% of married couples living together (20.6% with children under 18); 13.0% are women living without husbands and 4.9% are men living without wives. 33.2% had no family. On average, 2.53 people have a household, and the average family size is 3.11 people. 28.4% of the population lived alone, 12.6% were single elderly people (over 65) [3] .
Economy
In 2014, out of 6,322 people over the age of 16, 3631 had a job. At the same time, men had a median income of $ 50,190 a year, compared to $ 27,025 of the average annual income of women. In 2014, the median family income was estimated at $ 60,387, for a household - at $ 44,070. The per capita income is $ 18,634 per year [3] .
