Movses Khorenatsi Medal is awarded for outstanding creative achievements in the fields of Armenian culture, art, literature, education, humanities.
The Law on the Movses Khorenatsi Medal has been in force since July 26, 1993 .
Awarded
During the reign of the President of Armenia S. Sargsyan (from April 9, 2008), 473 people were awarded the medal, all of them were sentenced in life .
Of the 422 awards awarded, 336 are citizens of Armenia, 137 are foreign states (20 are Lebanon, 17 are Syria, 15 are USA, 14 are France and the Russian Federation, 7 are Georgia, 6 are each Argentina and Iran, 5 are Turkey and Italy, 3 each - Great Britain and Uruguay, 2 each - Canada, Israel and Cyprus, 1 each - Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Egypt, Spain, Iraq, Jordan, Netherlands, Switzerland, Chile, Romania, Slovenia, Vatican, Ukraine and NKR) .
157 of the awarded are women .
