Akshonov, Victor Semenovich

Viktor Semyonovich Akshonov ( January 1, 1962 , Izykhsky Kopi - June 11, 2016 , St. Petersburg ) - Soviet boxer , representative of the heavy weight category. He played at the All-Union level in the mid-1980s and early 1990s, two-time champion of the USSR, three-time winner of the USSR Cup, bronze medalist of the Goodwill Games in Seattle (1990), international master of sports .

Biography

Born on January 1, 1962 in the village of Izykhsky Mines of the Altai region of Khakassia . Since 1969 he studied at a local comprehensive school, then in the period 1977-1979 he was a student at school number 1 in the district center of Bely Yar . From here he went to the active service, which took place in the Pacific Fleet sports company. After serving, he moved permanently to the Kyrgyz SSR and, seriously engaged in boxing, represented the city of Frunze at competitions, being a student at the Frunze Institute of Physical Education at that time.

He achieved his first serious success at the all-Union level in the 1983 season, when he took part in the summer Spartakiad of the peoples of the USSR in Moscow and brought back a bronze medal won in the heavy weight category. Two years later, at the All-Union Championship in Yerevan, he was again a bronze medalist in heavyweight. He already represented Donetsk at the USSR Championship in Tashkent (1988), defeated all his rivals, including Evgeny Sudakov in the final, and won the title of champion of the Soviet Union. The following season, at a competition in Frunze, he again met in a decisive match with Sudakov and this time lost to him, eventually receiving a silver medal. In Donetsk, he trained with the honored trainer of the USSR Alexander Mikhailovich Kotov [1] .

In 1990, at the USSR championship in Lutsk, he regained his championship title, thanks to a series of successful performances, he joined the main team of the Soviet national team and performed at the Goodwill Games in Seattle (1990), where he won the heavyweight bronze. In 1991, he became a bronze medalist at the national championship in Kazan , then won a silver medal at the Games of the USSR Peoples in Minsk . He tried to qualify for the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona (1992), but at the CIS qualifying championship he lost to his longtime rival Evgeny Sudakov. For his sporting achievements he was awarded the honorary title of " Master of Sports of the USSR of the international class ."

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he lived in Ukraine, in Donetsk. In the early 2000s, he served as director of the ISD Donetsk sports club [2] .

He was buried at home in Abakan [3] .
