The main characters, the plot
The main characters of the film are Volodya and Stepan. Volodya at the beginning of the series for seven years, and at the end - for fifty. Stepan is a simple village man. He was sentenced to three years in prison on false charges. During this time, Stepan's young wife gave birth to a girl from another man - a visiting womanizer. Stepan will work for many years as chairman of the collective farm. It will survive all the “reforms” and “experiments” carried out in the twentieth century over the Russian village. However, in the nineties, the collective farm will begin to crumble, like everything in the country.
