Biography

He studied literature, philosophy and law at the University of Valence , spent part of his youth in Roman-sur-Isère , in Dauphin .

Known for having a significant impact on the literary life of his time. He advocated the use of the French language in poetry. He wrote poetry in the common French language (and not Latin ), at the same time he advocated the use of old French in prose and poetry and was opposed to replacing it with modern spelling.

Participated in disputes over spelling reform. Together with other members of the Pleiades, he proposed French poetry not a revolutionary , but an evolutionary path of development.

Guillaume Desotel, advocated "the good ancestors of national poetry . "

I thought that the introduction of new poetic genres - odes , sonnets , satire , elegy and others, does not contradict the development of old genre forms, for the ode is completely comparable with the epigram , satire with kok-a-lan , elegy with le .
