Includes a pedestal surrounded by sculptural groups. They represent artillery scenes, you can also see British soldiers who came to support Portugal, and the intervention of ordinary people in the struggle. It draws attention to the presence of a female element in all groups: in the front, a woman, Victory is led by the people, owns from the left, the national flag and law, the sword.
The pillar is crowned with a lion (symbol of the flag of England, which sent troops to support the Portuguese) trampling the eagle (it is a symbol of the Napoleonic empire).
