Sierra Nevada de Lagunas Bravas ( Spanish: Sierra Nevada de Lagunas Bravas ) is a large ignimbrite complex of volcanic domes Argentina ( Catamarca province) and Chile ( Atacama region) in a remote part of the Central Andes . There is a mountain with a height of 6173 meters [1] - the 50th highest peak of the Andes , the 9th highest volcano of Chile and the . Andes.org.uk reports the highest point of the complex at 6,140 m. [2] One of the highest points of the complex, (6122 m), was first conquered in December 2000 by a group of American climbers led by Robert Ayers [2] . The complex covers an area of 225 km² and contains at least 14 stratovolcanoes , the diameter of which craters reaches 400 meters. The snow line is at 6103 meters [3] .
