Hurwitz, Justin

Justin Gabriel Hurwitz ( born Justin Gabriel Hurwitz , born January 22, 1985 ) is an American composer, screenwriter and producer. He was best known as the author of the music for the film “ La La Land ” (2016) [1] [2] [3] [4] . He also wrote the music for three of Damien Chazell’s other films, Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench (2009), Obsession (2014), and First Man (2018).

For La La Land , Hurwitz received the Golden Globe Award for Best Film Music and Best Song ( City of Stars ), the BAFTA Best Film Music Award and Academy Award for Best Film Music and the best song (“City of Stars”; as well as another nomination for “ Audition (The Fools Who Dream) ”) [5] .

Biography

Hurwitz attended school in Glendale (Wisconsin) [6] . Hurwitz met director Damien Chazell at the University of Harvard , where they played in the same group, lived in the same room and worked together on the student film “Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench” [4] .
