After the death of his father (c. 1120), Marsan inherited.
He married Beatrice , daughter and heiress of Santiul II Bigorsky , and after the death of his father-in-law, he joined the county with his wife.
Known as the founder of the city (originally - the bastide ) Mont de Marsan (1133), which soon became the capital of Viscountry, and the Abbey of Saint-Jean de la Castell (1140).
Patronized the Order of the Templars .
He died in 1163 (according to some sources - September 14).
