Biography
Born in 1925 in Odessa. In 1940 he graduated from high school, after which he entered the Odessa Marine College. Before the start of World War II, he worked at the Frunze collective farm. During the occupation of Odessa, he participated in the Stalin partisan detachment in Usatov quarries.
After the war, he worked as a sailor on the Black Sea Shipping Company. He studied at the Naval College and at the courses of the command staff of the Black Sea Shipping Company. From 1946 to 1955 - assistant captain on various vessels and from 1957 - commander of the ship "Kursk". In 1961 he was appointed commander of the “Yuri Gagarin” motor ship, on which he made transportation to Southeast Asia and Cuba. In 1958 and 1962 he received the honorary title of "Best Commander of the Ministry of the Navy of the USSR."
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 9, 1963, he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor for the outstanding achievements in the development of maritime transport with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle gold medal.
In 1968 he graduated from the Odessa Higher Marine Engineering College. In 1969 he was appointed commander of the vessel Valentina Tereshkova and later - the bulk carrier Yalta.
In 1989 he retired.
