Fedor Holovaty ( Glavaty, Glavaty ) ( Rusin. Fedor Holovaty ) is a robber of the end of the 15th century , a participant in the anti- feudal struggle in present-day Slovakia.
Rusin by origin. Come from a. Ruska Volova near Snina (now eastern Slovakia ).
In his gang there were about 50 members, it was organized on a military basis and enjoyed the support of the local population. Fedor Holovaty was called the captain of the squad.
The detachment's actions were directed, first of all, against the nobility and the rich urban patriciate.
It operated in 1492–1495 in the area of Humenne , Snina , Medzilaborce , Svidnik , Stropkov and Bardejov , causing significant damage to the rich and sowing fear among them.
The letter of July 12, 1493, sent to the royal city of Bardejov, in which the robber threatens the city for the execution of two gang members, and demands a ransom of 400 gold for this, testifies to the position of Golovaty and the strength of his detachment. Under the text of the letter, the gallows, sabers, fire and guns are drawn, as well as the names of the robbed settlements ( Orava , Muran , Dunagesh, Sanok , Rymanow , Przemysl , etc.).
Over time, local feudal lords, preoccupied with robberies, launched a number of armed actions against the robbers, so a detachment of 400 people was assembled and equipped in Kosice .
The fight against Golovaty's gang lasted for about 3 years, after which, being unable to withstand armed mercenaries for a long time, it began to disintegrate, some of them died or fell into the hands of their pursuers. In the end, Fyodor Holovaty himself was captured and executed in Trebishov .
