Linden is a city in the United States located in northeastern Texas , the administrative center of Cass County . According to the 2010 census, the number of inhabitants was 1988 people, according to the US Census Bureau in 2015, 1979 people lived in the city [1] .

Content

History

The city was formed in 1852 after a review of the territories decided that Jefferson , the capital of Kass County, would be in the new Marion County . Linden was named after Mayor Wood’s hometown in Tennessee . In 1875, the release of the weekly newspaper Cass County Sun began. The newspaper was printed on a machine that residents of Shreveport drowned in the Red River in 1864 during the Civil War so that it would not go to the Union’s troops [2] .

The racial makeup of the city: 73.7% are white , 21% are African Americans , 0.5% are Native Americans, 0.5% are Asians , 0.0% (0 people) are residents of Hawaii or Oceania, 2.5% - other races, 1.8% - two or more races. The number of Hispanic residents of any race was 5.7% [7] .

Out of 840 households, children under 18 live in 27%. 40% of households were couples living together (11.3% with children under 18 years of age), women lived without husbands in 16.5% of households, men lived without wives in 4.8% of households, 38.7% of households were not by families. Only one person lived in 35.1% of households, 18.1% were single elderly people (over 65). The average household size was 2.22 people. The average family size is 2.82 people [7] .

The population of the city by age range was distributed as follows: 23.5% are residents under the age of 20, 22.8% are between the ages of 20 and 39, 30.8% are between 40 and 64, 22.7% are 65 and older . The average age is 43.9 years [7] .
