The charter of the joint-stock company Carbonic with a fixed capital of 200 thousand rubles, divided into 400 shares of 250 rubles. each was highly approved on November 26, 1898 , which is considered the date of foundation of the company. [2]

The question of preserving foodstuffs and other substances of organic origin necessary for human life, which was acute in the β€œpre-refrigerating” era, was at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. successfully decided the Kiev company "Carbonic". Artificial ice for the so-called β€œglaciers” that preceded today's refrigerators and at that time home refrigerated cabinets that were widespread at that time was produced by the factory of the company located on Vladimir-Lybedskaya street of the current capital of Ukraine . Ammonia- based refrigerants made it possible to produce artificial ice even in the warm season, under conditions of positive temperatures. This product, as was evident from the advertisements of the breeders, made exclusively from filtered artesian water, was in high demand of the population [3]

According to the evidence of that time, the Moscow branch of the Carbonic Society, in addition to everything else, was engaged in the sale of so-called Eskimo home ice-making machines, capable of producing one to twelve kilograms of artificial ice in one cycle. [4] What happened to the enterprises of the joint-stock company Carbonic after the revolution is unknown. Most likely they were first nationalized by the Soviet government , and after the appearance of dry ice in the USSR in the 30s of the 20th century , they were reprofiled.
