Biography
Born on June 7, 1969 in Krasnodar.
In 1988 he graduated from the Krasnodar Art College.
In 1995 he graduated from Kuban State University .
Lives and works in Krasnodar and Moscow [1] .
The works are in the collection of Capital groups, in the collections of Pierre Brochet , Umar Dzhabrailov, Vladimir Nekrasov and other private collections [2]
Collaborates with 11.12 GALLERY since 2013.
Technique and stylistic features.
Vladimir Kolesnikov works in a special technique using oil pastels, oils and acrylics. Visually, his work is similar to engravings or prints. They are stylized under the Italian pattern of the era of mannerism.
“The technique is really quite complicated, I would say - confused. This is an oil pastel drawing on a specially primed canvas. Oil pastel in itself is a very complex material, it is very soft, greasy, it is difficult to fix. I have been working in this technique for 20 years and am constantly looking for new ways and techniques - I strive to achieve the effect of print, lithography, so that it is not clear how this material is applied ” [3] .
Vladimir Kolesnikov has a unique concept. The artist uses the masterpieces of modern painting, introducing pin-up girls [4] into them. Thus contrasting the eternal and the momentary (art versus sexuality) [5] .
