Luna Hendricks ( Dutch: Loena Hendrickx ; born November 5, 1999 in Turnhout , Antwerp , Belgium ) is a Belgian lone skater , champion of her country in 2017. Also twice was the champion of Belgium among juniors (2014, 2015).

Career

Since the fall of 2013, the Moon takes part in the junior stages of the Grand Prix and other junior tournaments. In October 2015, a Belgian single took part in adult competitions in Nice at the City Cup , where she was sixth.

Hendricks began the pre-Olympic season in Germany at the Nebelhorn tournament , where she finished seventh. In October, she performed in Finland in neighboring Finlandia Trophy tournament , the performance was also successful, she took seventh place [2] . Then she twice took second places in the Nice Cup and Trophy of North Rhine-Westphalia. In late November, she first became the champion of Belgium. In 2017, she first performed at the European Championship , where she took 7th place there [3] . At the same time, all her former sports achievements were improved. At the end of March at the World Championships in Helsinki, she took a place in the second ten [4] . At the same time, she managed to qualify and win a ticket for her country to the Olympics in South Korea and slightly improved her previous achievements in total and short program.

Luna began the new Olympic season at the junior stage in Salzburg , where she did not perform very well and finished at the end of the top ten [5] . At the European Championships, Hendricks improved her last year result, taking the final 5th place, losing to three representatives of Russia and Italian Caroline Costner . At the Olympic Games in Korea, the Belgian figure skater took 16th place, but she became ninth at the World Championships , which is currently one of the best achievements in the history of figure skating in Belgium. The last time Alice Sie Kliis rose so high in 1992 was the seventh at the World Championships [6] . Luna finished the season 2017/2018 in 22nd place in the ISU ranking.

Family

Her older brother Yorick Hendricks is also a skater [8] , the champion of Belgium. He twice represented his country at the Winter Olympics (in Sochi and Pyeongchang ), as well as at the world and European championships.
