Biography
Born in Moscow in the family of a professor at the Institute. Bauman M.K. Christie. In 1937, she graduated from the Moscow Art College in memory of 1905 . She studied under Konstantin Yuon , Nikolay Krymov [2] .
In 1938, the artist married a student, a painter, Eugene Diffine, with whom he studied at the Moscow Art Theater. Surikov. Viktor Ivanov , who studied at the Moscow State Art Institute for the same years as the couple Diffin, spoke about their work: “It was a certain stage in our art, impressionism, which went almost to the extreme, so that the form almost comes to naught, and the subject leaves.”
Since 1941, with her husband Eugene Diffine, he has been evacuated to Samarkand, where students and teachers of the Surikov Institute were evacuated. “Her husband Eugene Diffine, a genius artist who, according to many who knew his work, died during an evacuation in Samarkand at the age of 28. [3] ”
After World War II in 1946, Valentina Diffine-Christi graduated from the Moscow Art Institute. V.I. Surikova (workshop of S.V. Gerasimov). [four]
In 1957, the artist joined the Moscow Union of Artists .
Valentina Diffine-Christie, looking for her individual style in painting in the face of a tough demand for socialist realism. The artist was accused of formalism at the institute, from where she was expelled, subsequently still recovering [5] .
And although in Soviet times, impressionism was not in demand, V. Diffine-Christie continued her creative search in this style, declaring that she does not fantasize, but really sees the world like that. As a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, the artist paints custom-made paintings in her original manner. “In the period of the 50s and 60s, the artist often went to factories, painted portraits of workers. And what is most surprising, these themes organically fit into her painting [6] . ”
In the last period of her work, “Valentina Mikhailovna departed from the detailed drawing of objects, she was sure that there were no contours in the painting, and borders and objects were determined only by a combination of colorful spots.” “The latest works of Valentina Mikhailovna were created in the early 1990s. This period in her work is characterized as “white on white”: the artist wrote in fact only in white, only sometimes adding a little other color to them [7] . ”
Since 2011, there has been widespread recognition of the artist’s work in Russia. Personal exhibitions are regularly held in museums in many cities of Russia.
The paintings are in museums in the country, including the State Tretyakov Gallery , as well as in private collections.
The artist’s works are on display in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Russian Impressionism. [8]
