Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IONH RAS) in the laboratory of coordination chemistry of alkali and rare metals as a junior research fellow. In 2006, she defended her doctoral dissertation, since 2010 - head of the chemistry sector of metal complex supramolecular systems, since 2015 - chief research fellow. Since 2004, he has also been working as a chief researcher at the A. N. Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry (IHE RAS). On October 28, 2016, she was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science (specialty “coordination chemistry”).

Key Scientific Results

In the scientific works of Yu. G. Gorbunova

  • methods for the directed synthesis of a wide range of coordination compounds based on tetrapyrrole ligands - analogues of natural substances that ensure the life of the biological world;
  • The fundamental principles for the production of new functional materials (thin films, polymer composites , hybrid materials ) based on macrocyclic compounds and supramolecular architectures , as the basis for new generation multifunctional devices, have been developed;
  • regularities were found that made it possible to create new thin-film systems for information recording, processing and storage devices, molecular switches , optical tomography , nonlinear optics , solar energy converters, magnetic materials and photosensitizers with world- class characteristics;
  • Materials for the near-infrared range have been developed for use in optical computers , namely, to amplify information laser beams and as non-volatile memory elements (based on polymer conductive composites containing metal phthalocyaninates ).
