History

In the summer of 1956, the head of Cambodia, Prince Norodom Sihanouk, paid an official visit to the USSR . At a meeting with the head of Cambodia, the leadership made a proposal to build a modern hospital in Cambodia, equipping it with all the necessary equipment. Cambodian and Soviet specialists were engaged in the construction [3] , medical devices were assembled at the Moscow EMA and Mosrentgen plants.

The opening ceremony of the new hospital [3] was held on August 29, 1960, at which the head of Cambodia personally presented awards to the builders.

After the Khmer Rouge came to power in 1975, the hospital was renamed the “April 17th Hospital” [3] . After 1979, it regained its former name [3] . Since 1993 it was again renamed the Hospital named after Norodoma of Sihanouk [3] . The hospital has been formerly named since 2005 [3] .
