Pavel Antonovich Kostsov (06/22/1921 - 10/10/1982) - the leader of Soviet agriculture, chief agronomist of the seed and seed production farm "Berezanskoe" of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Oilseeds, Korenovsky District of Krasnodar Region, Hero of Socialist Labor (04/30/1966).

Biography
Born on June 22, 1921 in the village of Khodnya, now in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine [2] . In 1937 he entered the Agronomy Department of the Kharkov Agricultural Institute. Right from the institute went to the front.
Since 1941 - in the Red Army . Member of the Great Patriotic War. In 1943, he was seriously injured in battles and was cured in hospitals for a long time. He transferred more than 10 operations, after which he was demobilized. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree [2] .
From 1945, he worked in the village of Novoalekseevskaya, Kurganinsky district of the Krasnodar Territory as chief agronomist of the Novoalekseevsky grain farm
Since 1946, he worked as the chairman of a collective farm in the village of Khan of the Maikop District of the Adygei Autonomous Region (now the city of Maikop of the Republic of Adygea ).
In 1955 he moved to the grain processing farm "Berezansky" of the Korenovsky district of the Krasnodar Territory, where he began working as branch manager No. 1, and was also elected secretary of the party organization.
In 1957 he was appointed the chief agronomist of the state farm, which by the decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of April 22, 1960 transformed the Berezanskoye experimental seed farm of the All-Union Scientific-Research Institute of Oilseeds (VNIIMK) [2] .
Simultaneously with the production activities he conducted a lot of experimental work. The creative inquisitive mind of the agronomist was constantly looking for methods to improve the methods of cultivation of tilled crops with minimal labor costs. He managed a lot. He developed new methods of weed control in pre-sowing and after-sowing. Experienced way he gives a start in life to many institute developments, the initiator of which he often was in practice. It was precisely such talented people who were constantly looking for that the connection between science and practice was realized. He was constantly invited to scientific and practical conferences, where he made presentations. Scientists listened to his words and conclusions. Crops of wheat and sunflower are steadily growing [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 30, 1966, for successes achieved in increasing the production and harvesting of sunflower, Pavel Antonovich Kotsov was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal " Hammer and Sickle " [3] .
This Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 30, 1966 awarded workers from Adygea Mikhail Vechersky , Kunats Daguzhieva (Enamukova) , Lyubov Lysenko and Pshimaf Pshizov .
Since 1970, the farm has steadily overstepped the sunflower harvest line at 40 centners per hectare [2] .
In 1971-1976 - Director of the experimental seed-growing economy "Berezanskoe" All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of oilseeds (VNIIMK). Becoming a director of the economy, he paid special attention to the development of the social sphere, continuing to solve problems of increasing the yield and productivity of animal husbandry in the economy. In 1976-1980, he was the director of the Kruglik experimental production facility in the city of Krasnodar [2] .
Since 1980 - retired. He lived in the city of Krasnodar . He died on October 10, 1982. He was buried at the Slavic cemetery in Krasnodar [2] .
