Biography
Club career
He started playing football at the adult level in Everton from Viña del Mar , made his debut in September 1953 in a game against Universidad de Chile .
In 1957, he moved to Deportes La Serena , with whom he won the second division tournament the same season, scoring the decisive goal in the “golden match” against Santiago Morning (1: 0). In 1958, became the top scorer of the Chilean championship with 23 goals, and his team in the debut season took third place. In 1959 he became the finalist of the Chilean Cup , he did not play in the final match, and his team largely lost to the Santiago Wanderers club (1: 5). The following year, already in the second division club status, Deportes La Serena again reached the Cup final and took revenge on Santiago Wanderers (4: 1), Verdejo played the full match in the team.
At the end of his career he played for Universidad Catolica , Palestino , Santiago Wanderers and Everton (Viña del Mar) . Missed a year of professional career because of working in a factory.
Took part in friendly matches as part of various Chilean teams. He played four times against “ Santos ” with Pele and three times became the winner, in the “ Universidad de Chile ” and “ Colo-Colo ”.
Career in the national team
As part of the national team of Chile, he participated in the 1957 and 1959 South American Championships. March 21, 1957 in the continental championship match against the national team of Colombia scored two goals.
He also played for the national team in 1962 and 1964.
After finishing his career, he lived in the USA for a while.
He died on January 24, 2017 at the age of 82 [1] [2] [3] .
