History
Comrade Artem (real name Sergeyev Fyodor Andreyevich) was a professional revolutionary, a close friend of Sergei Kirov and Joseph Stalin, a Communist Party leader, founder of the Donetsk-Kryvyi Rih Soviet Republic and the first chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Donetsk-Kryvyi Rih Republic, which included at the beginning of the 20th century Aleksandrovsk-Grushevsky (now the city of Shakhty).
Comrade Artem paid attention to the post-war restoration of the coal industry in the Donbass. April 18, 1921 Fedor Andreevich came to the city of Mines . There he participated in the session of the Shakhtinsky district committee of Soviets, spoke at meetings of workers of the I-st state mine (now it is the mine named after Artem).
The memory of Comrade Artyom was immortalized in the Ukrainian SSR, in the Rostov region. His name was one of the villages of the city of Mine, power station, mine named after Artem, mine "Deep" (named after Artem No. 2) [1] , the city street.
Monuments to Comrade Artyom were erected in the USSR in the cities of Svyatogorsk , Donetsk , in the cities of Artyom of the Primorsky Territory, Krivoy Rog and others. The largest were reinforced concrete monuments in the city of Artemovsk (sculptor Ivan Kavaleridze , 1927) with a pedestal height of 15 meters and sculptures of 15 meters and in Svyatogorsk, where the height of the monument was 22 meters, pedestal - 6 meters. During the Great Patriotic War, the monument in Artyomovsk was destroyed by the Germans.
On August 13, 1968, a monument to Comrade Artem was erected in the center of the village of Artem .
The sculpture of the monument has a height of 9.7 meters, a pedestal - 5.2 meters. The monument was made by a team of Shakhty sculptors: B. U. Akolzin, L. I. Ganshin, N. A. Karagodin, A. Demidovich. Comrade Artyom is depicted in motion, the sculpture is painted with silver paint.
Over time, the monument began to deteriorate and collapse. In 2012, Vladimir Lavrenev carried out the restoration of the monument.
