King Saud University - is a state university in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia . It was founded on November 6, 1957 by King Saud ibn Abdulaziz as the second university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Umm al-Qur University in Mecca . The university was created to meet the shortage of skilled workers in Saudi Arabia . King Saud University is the second largest university in the world by area [1] , and the Government of the Kingdom allocates about 1% annually for its provision from the budget [1] .

History of University
The creation of the first Saudi University was a response to the educational and professional needs of the young nation. King Abdulaziz became king in 1932, and began to lay the foundations for the modernization of his country and the creation of an education system. In 1953, King Saud, the eldest son of Abdulaziz, ascended the throne after the death of his father, and established the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Education.
