History

The house in Gusyatnikov Lane was built in 1861 by an architectural technician Mikhail Alexandrovich Fidler [2] , in the neo - Greek style. A wooden house with a mezzanine, a stone basement, with a stone extension with a terrace with access to the garden was located in the back of the yard. The estate was unique in that instead of the traditional composition of the main house and outbuildings, it consisted of two spaced symmetrical buildings [3] .

Eduard (Dmitry) Andreevich Berens (Eduard Christian von Berens), a hereditary nobleman [4] , acquires a house in Gusyatnikov Lane 7 in the 1890s. and owns it until 1914, and until 1917, his daughter Maria Eduardovna Schlippe [5] [6] .

In 1905 , after E. Behrens rented the house under the school, the estate was rebuilt according to the project of N. N. Blagoveshchensky .

After the revolution, the house was nationalized and given over to communal apartments, from this period there were new partitions and additional doorways.

In the 1920s, Grigory Roshal , a future filmmaker, student of V. E. Meyerhold , People's Artist of the USSR, twice laureate of the State Prize for the films “ Academician Ivan Pavlov ” and “ Mussorgsky ” lived in one of the communal apartments. [7] The left wing was demolished in the 1960s to expand the Swiss embassy . The right building has survived - a wooden residential building.

In the 1970s-80s, the building was occupied by the construction and installation department.

Current status

Despite the years of subsequent desolation, the tree of walls and floors is in satisfactory condition, stoves and partially parquet have been preserved. In September 2014, the house was put up for auction under the program “Ruble per meter”, but the chosen tenant refused his obligations. [7]

In September 2015, a second auction was held and a new tenant appeared at the building. In 2016, the restoration of the house began [7] [8] . In early 2017, repair and restoration work was completed [9] .
