Frost-resistant upright shrub with a dense rounded crown formed by ribbed shoots. It grows on moist and waterlogged soils . It grows in height to 1.5-2 m. The flowering period is June-August [2] .

Shoots are bare, slightly faceted, reddish-brown-yellow, grow straight up [2] .
- Leaves
Leaves elongated-lanceolate, spiky, glabrous, on short petioles. The base is wedge-shaped. The sharp edges may have cilia. The color of the upper side of the leaves is dark green, the bottom is light green. The length is usually from 4.5 cm to 7 cm, less often reaches 11 cm. Their width is 1.5-2.5 cm [2] .

Pink colour. Inflorescences are panicles growing at the ends of branches, up to 12 cm in length. They have a narrow pyramidal shape, approaching a cylindrical shape [2] .
