James S. “Jim” Davis ( born 1943 , USA ) is an American businessman and philanthropist of Greek origin [1] [2] , a billionaire , owner and chairman of the transnational corporation “ New Balance ”, as well as co-founder of the (MLL). According to Forbes magazine , it occupies 286th place in the list of the richest people in the world [3] , whose financial condition at the end of January 2017 is estimated at $ 5 billion [4] . In 2016, he took 94th place in the Forbes 400 list of the richest people in the United States, and in 2015 he was included in Forbes 400 as the richest American Greek (124th place in the whole USA) [5] . He is also the owner of commercial real estate in Gloucester ( Massachusetts ) [6] .

Biography
Born in 1943 in the United States in a Greek family [7] [8] . Jim's father left the United States from Greece at the age of 15 years [9] [10] .
Education
In 1962 he graduated from the [11] .
In 1966 he graduated from Middlebury College with a bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry . He was a member of the . Subsequently, the college campus library was named after him, and Davis himself received an honorary doctorate [1] .
Career
He began his career as a sales engineer at LFE Corporation ( Waltham , Mass.) And marketing manager at Techven Associates ( Cambridge , Mass.)
In 1972, on the day of the Boston Marathon , he acquired a small shoe manufacturing company, New Balance , which at that time had only six employees manufacturing thirty pairs of sneakers per day [4] . As a result, New Balance has become one of the most successful commercial organizations in the world with 4,000 employees [1] and annual revenue of $ 2.5 billion.
He is a member of the Boards of Directors of Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association, International Athletic Footwear & Apparel Manufacturers Association and Two / Ten Foundation, as well as a member of the Athletic Footwear Council and a member of the Executive Committee of Rubber and Plastic Footwear Manufacturers Association .
During the 2012 US presidential election, he provided financial support to Republican candidate Mitt Romney in the amount of $ 500,000 [12] [13] .
In September 2016, he allocated nearly $ 400,000 Trump Victory Committee [14] , a joint fundraising committee for Republican candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 US presidential election , chaired by the chairman Raines Pribus National Party Committee. The Davis family has established the New Balance Foundation [19] , whose mission is to support charitable organizations whose humanitarian work is to improve the living conditions of children, as well as to prevent [1] [ 20] .

Married, has two children.
In 1977, the future wife of businessman Anne began working at New Balance in the human resources department , and today holds the post of vice chairman [4] .
Lives in Newton (Massachusetts).
