The village is located about 25 km south of the district center.

Origin of title
The name Arshan comes from the Buryat Arshan , arasan - “a mineral or warm source that has healing value” [3] .
History
In 1885, on the territory of the modern settlement of Arshan, there was the Ulus Taishinsky, whose population was 25 people. According to the census of the Russian Empire in 1897, the ulus was part of the Alarsky Foreign Ministry, there were 5 households here, by nationality they were Buryats , belonged to the 1st genus of Hondogor . The settlement itself Arshan was founded in 1905 [3] .
