Medea Valerianovna Dzhaparidze ( Georgian მედეა ვალერიანის ასული ჯაფარიძე ; February 20, 1923 , Tbilisi , USSR - March 31, 1994 , Tbilisi , Georgia ) - Soviet Georgian theater and film actress. People's Artist of the Georgian SSR ( 1950 ). Laureate of the Stalin Prize ( 1950 ).

Biography

Medea Japaridze was born in Tbilisi . She studied at secondary school No. 42. She graduated from high school in 1939.

For two years she worked at the Theater of Folk Art at the House of Culture of Nadzaladevi. Since 1942 - actress of the Academic Theater. K. Mardzhanishvili in Tbilisi.

In the studio of the Rustaveli Theater, she listened to the lecture course of Georgy Tovstonogov. Later she went to Moscow, to the studio of Nemirovich-Danchenko. There, director Yuri Zavadsky invited her to the Mossovet Theater for the role of Cleopatra in the play by Caesar and Cleopatra by Bernard Shaw. Soon she returned to her homeland and spent her whole life in Georgia.

In the theater, Kote Mardzhanishvili created many images that became events in the history of the Georgian theater. The most noteworthy are: Nina (Mikhail Lermontov “The Masquerade”), Juliet, Beatrice, Lady Anne (William Shakespeare “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Taming of the Shrew”, “Richard III”), Dragonfly ( Baratashvili “The Sea”), Gulsunda ( Vazha Pshavela “Les Miserables”), Marta Isabella ( Alejandro Casona “ Trees Die Standing ”), Barbara Karpovna ( Kita Buachidze “An Evil Dog in the Yard”), necklace ( Polycarp Kakabadze “The Sword of Kakhaber”), Iocasta ( Sophocles “ Oedipus Rex ”) , mother ( Lasha Tabukashvili "The Old Waltz") and others.

In 1950, she was awarded the Stalin Prize for her role in the film Shield of Dzhurgay. In the same year she was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Georgian SSR.

Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 6th convocation.

She was buried in the pantheon of Didube writers and public figures.
