Kaisersvert , in spite of the poverty of the territory by plant communities, singled out and put under control 18 conservation areas, including 9 large biotopes and 9 old alleys planted along roads and streets. In addition, the quality of groundwater is monitored by 28 stations located throughout the administrative district.

Ecological disaster
Kaiserswerth's biggest problem is the territory contaminated with carcinogenic organic substances ( perfluorooctanesulfonic acid and perfluorooctanoic acid ) identified in 2012 from Düsseldorf International Airport to the Rhine . The problem is that these substances do not decompose in the natural environment, accumulating in groundwater and soil. Currently, the pollution territory has captured almost the entire populated territory of Kaiserswerth, including the old central historical part of the district. Pollution degree - up to 5000 ng / l., Maximum at the source of pollution up to 20 000 ng / liter. [one]
The main cause of pollution is the substances used to extinguish large fires. Kaiserswerth has two sources of pollution recently located on the territory of the international airport - the fire station and a place for firefighters training to extinguish large fires on the north-western border of the airport. Currently, major environmental measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences and sources of pollution in the airport zone and Kaiserswerth. The city authorities created a special commission and annually the residents of the contaminated territories are informed about both pollution monitoring and prevention measures. The latest release of information with detailed maps of pollution areas, including the entire Dusseldorf, was published in April 2016 . [2]
It is important that neighboring Laushausen (south of Kaiserswerth) also suffered from the airport. This happened after the Atlas Air plane, which was ignited in January 2005, was put out. [3] Since then, the area of detected traces of PFT substances has spread to half of the administrative Laushausen.
