Biography
Igor Sadykov was born on July 23, 1967 in the city of Osh. Since 1980 he lived in Ferghana . He began to engage in weightlifting under the guidance of his father, Sergei Sadykov, in the sports reserves "Labor Reserves" . Later, Alexander Anosov also worked with him.
At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, he was one of the leading Soviet heavyweight athletes. In 1990, he became the champion of the USSR and took second place at the World Championships in Budapest . In 1991 he won the European Championship in Wladyslawowo and the World Championship in Donaueshenen .
While participating in the 1991 World Cup, he received an offer to play for one of the German sports clubs and moved to Germany . In 1993-1997 he was a member of the national team of this country. In 1993, he won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Melbourne . In 1996, he participated in the Atlanta Olympics , where he took 7th place. In 1997, at the European Championships in Rijeka, he showed the best result in a jerk , but because of an unsuccessful performance in the clean and jerk, he was not among the winners in the total biathlon.
After completing his sports career, he took up entrepreneurial activity in the construction industry. In December 2014, a weightlifting tournament for Igor Sadykov’s prizes was held at the Grif Moscow Sports Club.
