Biography
He graduated with honors from the Belarusian Novogrudok Financial and Economic College, in 1959 - with honors from the Faculty of Finance and Economics of the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute).
In 1967, he defended his PhD, and at the beginning of 1975, his doctoral dissertation.
- 1975 - Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Economics,
- 1975-1988 - Vice Rector
- 1988-1991 - First Vice-Rector,
- 1991 to 2006 - Rector of the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute. N. A. Voznesensky, then St. Petersburg State University of Economics .
From 2006 to the end of his life, he was president of St. Petersburg State University of Economics.
Under his leadership, for the first time in the country, a concept for the development of an economic university in the new conditions was developed and implemented, aimed at improving the content of university economic education and training specialists that meet international standards.
Under his leadership, defended more than 40 doctoral and master's theses in economic disciplines.
Under his scientific guidance, the textbooks Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economic Theory, International Management, and Theory of Corporate Finance were prepared. He is the editor of the translation of the 15th edition of the textbook P. Samuelson and V. Nordhaus "Economics" (1999). For the creation of a set of textbooks “Macroeconomics” and “Microeconomics” for educational institutions of higher professional education, Professor L. S. Tarasevich (together with P. I. Grebennikov and A. I. Leussky) was awarded the Russian Government Prize in the field of education for 2000.
